Bible Verses About Strength – Uplifting Scriptures
There are various scriptures and Bible verses about strength that shows us just how much God provides. His Strength is what allows us as Christians to morve forward in our walk in confidence through His strength.
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
– Philippians 4:13
What do you imagine when you think of strength? Some might imagine a bodybuilder, pushing his body to the limits day after day. Some might think of emotional strength, of someone who has been through intense pain and still perseveres. But the truth is that, without Jesus, our strength means nothing. In fact, compared to the all-consuming power of God, we are as weak as the dirt we walk on. We were not made to go through this life by our strength alone; we were meant to rely on God, who gives us that strength to face the good, the bad, and everything in between. So how do we know this?
First, think back on all the times that God empowered you to do something you could never do on your own. Maybe He gave you the courage to make a difficult confrontation, or maybe He gave you the ability to feel peace in the midst of a storm. There are a million different ways that God gives us this strength each and every day – and it’s all because of grace. The best part of grace is that it is given, not earned; and the same goes for strength. When we trust in ourselves, we are sure to fail. But when we give God control, He will open up countless ways for us to thrive, even in the impossible. We should always remember these moments, and use them as encouragement whenever we feel helpless.
It’s also important to remember not only how God has given us strength, but also how He has used our weaknesses. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” It is no secret that all human beings are flawed in some ways; we all mess up, fall short, and fail to measure up. But what Paul is saying here is that our weaknesses can actually reflect the glory of God. Our failures are part of our testimony to how God has worked in us. And when people see the amazing progress we’ve made, we can point to Christ and say, “It was all Him.” Though we are not perfect, our stories of deliverance may point others to the one who is.
Finally, the fact that all our strength is in Christ alone should humble us. It is true that we have the unrivaled power of the Holy Spirit within us. But, as we have seen earlier, that power is not ours to take credit for. We are less like Olympic gold champions, and more like little children with crowns placed upon our heads. We should not be ashamed of where we started, because we are living proof to all that our God is a giver of strength, in every circumstance.
More On Bible Verses About Strength
Isn’t it inspiring, that the God of the Universe gives you the strength for all the battles you face? We have just hinted at many key aspects of strength – grace, testimony, and humility to name a few. But there is so much more to say about strength. It is one of those words with a million definitions, yet in some way, they all connect. It is definitely something that we should continue to study and pray about all throughout our walks with Jesus.
It would take pages upon pages to discover everything about such a broad topic as strength. But the beauty of scripture is that we can keep coming back and learning new things each and every day. God chooses to reveal certain things to us right when we need them; we only have to allow Him. We have to be faithful and believe that His Word has the power to transform us.
And so below, there are some verses that relate specifically to strength. They are certainly not all the Bible has to say on the subject, but they are a great starting point. Many times, people think studying the Bible has to involve intellectual labor right from the beginning. But in reality, some of our most profound revelations about God simply come to us. Our relationship with God is like a tree; we start at the roots, at the fundamentals. And from there, we can continue to grow. Take time to meditate on this as you read.
