VaShawn Mitchell, a Six-time Stellar Award winner and GRAMMY nominated recording artist who was born and brought up in Chicago,IL a city also known as the birthplace of Gospel music has released his new project ‘Created 4 This’. VaShawn Mitchell became the assistant music director of St. Mark Baptist Church, and worked with nationally renowned choir leader Lonnie Hunter. For nearly 10 years he served as the Minister of Music at Bishop Larry D. Trotter’s Sweet Holy Spirit Church, and was the youngest Minister of Music in that church’s history. “I am most passionate about my church ministry,” he says. “As ministers of music we birth new worshippers and new praisers on a weekly basis. A lot of that is not necessarily singing, but ministering the music that is being sung.” His previous album ‘Triumphant’ which was released on 2011 was among the top 5 Gospel albums of the year. Billboard magazine stated “Nobody Greater” the No.1 Most Played Gospel Song of 2011.

His new album ‘Created 4 This’, produced through a partnership between EMI Gospel and VaShawn Mitchell’s production company, V-MAN Entertainment, released on the 28th of August 2012 which has been recorded live at the Thornton High School Auditorium in his hometown Harvey,IL features 13 songs, three live performance videos, and exclusive behind-the-scene footage. ‘Created 4 This’ also showcases Mitchell’s much-admired songwriting as he wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on the album and compelling vocal style. The album has been released as a Deluxe Edition CD + DVD. Fans can purchase the Limited Deluxe Edition package, which is sold exclusively at Wal-Mart and contains the CD + DVD plus a T-shirt.

VaShawn Mitchell was announced Billboard’s #1 Gospel Radio Artist of 2011 and Triumphant was among the Top 5 Gospel Albums of 2011. The song ‘Turning around for me’ from the album ‘Created 4 This’ is climbing up the charts and has entered #5 on Billboard’s Top Singles chart. The release day celebration for this album ‘Created 4 This’ was held at the Baptist Worship Center in Philadelphia. There will be a series of release events. VaShawn Mitchell will now head to Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston on August 30th. Then he will make his way to Union Temple Baptist Church in Washington, DC on August 31st and the Back II School Album Release Skate Party in Charlotte on September 3rd. Vashawn Mitchell is now set to co-host Verizon’s How Sweet The Sound event in Detroit on September 15th and in Los Angeles on September 21st.

His passion and devotion for worship, the spirit of an encourager and the story of an overcomer, VaShawn Mitchell is beyond doubt an artist for this age.
