8 Bible Verses About Giving – What It Says

There are many references about giving in the Bible and we should read these verses to understand what it says and then apply it to our lives.

When we think about giving a typical reaction is to look at it in terms of money. The truth is there are many ways to give and as a Christian we need to work at being more giving in our day to day life. Encouraging a family member is a great way to give, your encouragement or advice can go a long way. Take a look at the Bible verses from the King James version below about giving and how God wants us to give.

Luke 6:30

Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

2 Corinthians 8:12

For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

1 Corinthians 13:3

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Matthew 19:21

Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Acts 20:35

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Luke 6:38

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Matthew 6:3-4

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 5:42

Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

We hope you have taken the time to read these scriptures and understand how important it is to give. Life as a Christian is less about receiving and and more about giving beyond money. Yes tithing in church is important but we should also be giving to the world being helpful in any way we can. There is strength in using your generosity and it is a powerful way to show the love you have for others.
