9 Bible Verses About Anxiety – Don’t Worry

Whether it is anxiety, stress, worry, or fear that we are dealing with we should look to the Bible for refuge in understanding God's word in how he comforts us during this time.

The topic of anxiety is widespread and comes in many different forms. It is helpful for us to understand how we deal with being anxious and equip ourselves with tools to help us calm down. We should remind ourselves that as a Christian God protects us, there are scriptures that that helps us clear our mind getting us back to the feeling of a peaceful mental state. The following are some Bible verses about anxiety taken from the King James Version (KJV) to help us deal with problems when we are stressed and/or filled with anxiety.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds* through Christ Jesus.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

2 Thessalonians 3:16

Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always* by all means. The Lord be with you all.

1 Peter 5:6-8

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Romans 5:2

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Hebrews 13:5-6

5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor* forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Matthew 11:28-30

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Romans 5:2

Having read some of the verses above relating to anxiety does it provide for more of a calming state of mind? If not, give it some time and pray with these scriptures when you find yourself in a state of anxiety. We can’t necessarily expect a cure to anxiety right away but there is no doubt that over time anxiety weighs less on you by using these verses in prayer more and more.
