JUNE ROCHELLE CROWNED "FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR" E-mail
Friday, 25 August 2006
Nashville, TN - Dubbed "The Melodic Queen of Soul and Inspiration" by her fans, urban singer/songwriter June Rochelle was honored with the "Female Vocalist of the Year" award at this weekend's En Sound Music Awards ceremony, held August 19th in Newark, NJ. During the evening, June performed "For All The Love," from her impressive debut album Changing Places, for which she had also received an En Sound Music Award nomination in the "Song of the Year" category.

"June Rochelle is a very rare talent and one that I see going very far," raves Delroy Souden, the creator of En Sound Entertainment and the En Sound Music Awards. "After seeing her perform live, I was blown away. But I was most impressed when she came over and prayed with me in the middle of the craziness. I wish her all the best in her career. I know that before long, the whole world is going to hear the name June Rochelle."

"I am so completely honored by the award," exclaimed June Rochelle of her "Female Vocalist of the Year" win. "I feel received by so many people, because the votes came from the United States, Europe, Africa and Puerto Rico. It's a beautiful award, and I'm thankful that En Sound Entertainment is helping to promote independent artists."

June's En Sound Music Awards win comes shortly on the heels of her appearance on the preliminary ballot for the Stellar Awards in the "Urban/Inspiration Single/Performance of the Year" category. Her single, "For All The Love," shares the early ballot honor along with songs from such gospel greats as six-time Grammy Award winner CeCe Winans, Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee Mavis Staples, nine-time Dove Award winner Kirk Franklin, American Idol finalist George Huff and Billboard Top Gospel Album chart topper Kierra KiKi Sheard, to name a few.

On a mission to soothe and uplift listeners with her soulful voice and message of hope, June Rochelle continues to build momentum in the gospel music industry. She has outpaced some of the nation's top Grammy winners as she continues to build momentum on video and radio charts nationwide. June's radio single "For All The Love" spent several weeks in the number one position on both the En Sound Top 20 and Gospel Showcase Radio Network's Top 10 Playlist charts. Her "For All The Love" video garnered more plays than superstar Grammy Award winners The Black Eyed Peas, LL Cool J and Mary Mary when it appeared on the BET Top 100 video chart. June also turned heads at JET Magazine's first annual "Club JET Family Health & Fitness Affair," and was noted by the magazine as an artist "helping to make gospel everlasting." "Access Hollywood" has featured Changing Places as the CD pick of the week, and her work continues to receive impressive reviews from consumers and industry insiders alike.

In addition to her accomplishments in the recording studio, June Rochelle opened for Yolanda Adams on the "Today" tour and has performed before Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, among other luminaries. The Indianapolis native has stood before tens of thousands of people to share the stage and sing alongside legendary performers Celine Dion and Diana Ross. June has even hosted her own Indianapolis market TV talk show, "Joy in Our Town" on WLCJ-TBN - spotlighting topics like kids with disabilities, elder abuse and other topics of interest to local viewers. But her most profound performances have been in the humble service of people in need, in church pews or behind prison walls, encouraging soul-battered people to continue to strive forward. "My purpose on this road will always be to help ordinary people make it through another day," says June.

June Rochelle's Changing Places is available on Vision Entertainment Media Group and is distributed through Pyramid/Fontana, a division of Universal Music Group. Vision Entertainment Media Group brings an array of gospel music to the world, offering a unique appeal and musical dimension to reach beyond the walls of the church and into the world with an inspired word, while maintaining the integrity and victory of the Gospel.
