(November 9, 2005) – Gospel music’s leading label, Verity Records is quickly conquering unchartered territory with the release of its first movie soundtrack. As a division of Zomba Label Group’s recently formed Zomba Gospel, consisting of powerhouse labels Verity and Gospo Centric Records, Verity Records has reached enormous success with the summer release of the soundtrack from the Screen Gems motion picture “The Gospel.”
“The Gospel” soundtrack topped this week’s Billboard Soundtrack Chart at #1 & Billboard’s Top Gospel Chart at #2 scanning 10,953 units. The project is the first endeavor in the motion picture soundtrack field for the label, but will most certainly not be their last given this latest accomplishment.
The biggest and brightest stars are not only featured in the film itself, but the accompanying soundtrack boasts a dizzying array of Gospel’s premiere artists. Donnie McClurkin, Yolanda Adams, Hezekiah Walker and Fred Hammond are among the greats to lend their awesome talents to this stellar compilation.
Some of the standout cuts on the soundtrack include Donnie McClurkin and Kirk Franklin’s moving rendition of The 5 Stairsteps soul classic, “Ooh Child,” which is also featured as a bonus track on Donnie’s own chart topping release “Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs.” Hezekiah Walker & LFC’s breakout hit “I Need You To Survive” from his last live recording at Radio City Music Hall, and Yolanda Adams’ “Victory” which can also be found on her latest release, “Day By Day” is an energetic and upbeat cut that beautifully rounds out this collection.
“The Gospel” soundtrack is a moving listening experience that mirrors the message of the film itself, to find salvation and peace within the strong foundation of your church home.
“THE GOSPEL” movie soundtrack is available now in stores everywhere!!
