Sherman "Big Show" Tate & God’s World Entertainment
Thursday, 10 January 2008
Sherman “Big Show” Tate established God’s World Entertainment in 2002. Subsequent to Mr. Tate incarceration, God touched and changed his life forever. Previously, Mr. Tate was arrested several times, was a major drug dealer and committed various crimes, ranging from disorderly conduct to attempted murder.
He also was a secular promoter in those days but with imprisonment his life took a turn for the better, he discovered God, which rescued him and gave him a true purpose in life. He vowed to commit himself to God by always giving the best of himself and spreading the Gospel.
God’s World Entertainment released its first album in 2003, the title of the group was Body Of Christ (B.O.C.), they chose this name for all the blessings God had given them. Unfortunately, their album only sold 2,600 copies but this did not discourage Mr. Tate, on the contrary it motivated him to focus on his company and it’s success in the Gospel business. Mr. Tate started this process by taking a year off to study and learn the Gospel industry and then to what he knew best, Marketing and Promotion. He began putting on shows, plays, concerts, Gospel comedy shows and anything relevant to the industry. He thrived to build his company's name in his hometown city of Mobile, a population of about 600,000, which he had as a goal to sell at least 1%.
In 2004, he put together a city street team for a whole year; this consisted of placing flyers and posters all over the city, which led to his second release. This album sold over 6,700 copies in the Mobile area alone, this continued with his third and fourth project in 2006, a film and a musical recording. He has moved further along by releasing a DVD entitled “A Gospel Comedy Explosion”, starring B.E.T’s own T.P. Hearn. This DVD is a sensation and is in the hands of at least 4,300 people. The solo project of Big Show, entitled “From a Baller To a Bishop” has sold over 14,000 copies due to all the multiple Gospel events appearances but without radio and TV broadcasting.
With the proper distribution deal they will be able to release a minimum of 4 musical recordings, and a Gospel Comedy show on DVD at every quarter, as well as 1 to 2 movies a year. Their future goal is that within 3 to 5 years they own a distribution company that distributes music and films. Lawyer Wendi Huntley and Mr. Tate are presently looking for the right distribution deal, they have approached several potential contacts but are still in search of the right agreement.
