Nashville, TN - Singer/songwriter June Rochelle is no longer the best kept secret in gospel music. The soulful songstress, whose distinctive vocals have been familiar to industry insiders for years, burst onto the national scene earlier this year with the release of her astonishing debut project, Changing Places. Adding to an already impressive string of accolades, Rochelle has just been nominated for two En Sound Music Awards. The awards nominations include "Female Vocalist of the Year" and "Song of the Year" for her hit single "For All The Love."
The 1st Annual En Sound Music Awards will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 in the Grand Ballroom of The Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, NJ. Christened "the melodic queen of soul and inspiration" by fans, Rochelle is scheduled to be a featured performer along with the likes of Stellar Award nominee Bryan Wilson and Lifetime Achievement Award recipients Margaret Allison of Margaret Allison & The Angelic Voices gospel quartet fame and pastor/choir director Rev. Timothy Wright. The evening will be hosted by comedians Rod-Z and Cornelius Simms. Unlike most award programs that are affected by music industry voting, the En Sound Music Awards are determined by fans through a unique online voting process. Tickets to attend the festivities are available at ticketweb.com or by calling 866-468-7619.
June Rochelle's first single, "Use Me Lord," catapulted onto Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs Chart and landed on Gospel-Spotlight.com's Top 20 Hot Singles chart. Her work has already received high praise from media outlets including The Los Angeles Times, "Access Hollywood," BET, Ebony Magazine, Urban Network, Lifeway.com, About.com and Voice of America Radio. Tracey Artis, CEO of I Hear Music, Inc., says that June Rochelle is "a must for all gospel lovers." At WXEZ in Virginia, where "Use Me Lord" is in heavy rotation on the station's top 20 playlist, on-air personality Dale Murray says, "June Rochelle's new release is a soulful masterpiece."
On a mission to soothe and uplift listeners with her soulful voice and message of hope, the Indianapolis native has stood before tens of thousands of people to sing alongside such stars as Celine Dion (in French no less) and Diana Ross. She opened for Yolanda Adams on the "Today" tour and has performed before Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, among other luminaries. Rochelle's demo vocal of the song "Lately" provided the foundation for Arista Records' soul-pop trio Divine to reach the top of the Billboard Top 100 Singles chart. Her new music video "For All The Love" recently debuted on BET and The Word Network to much acclaim. Rochelle has even hosted her local TV talk show "Joy in Our Town" in the Indianapolis market, spotlighting topics such as kids with disabilities, elder abuse and other topics of interest to local viewers.
But her most profound performances have been in the humble service of people in need, in church pews or behind prison walls, encouraging soul-battered people to continue to strive forward. Says Rochelle, "My purpose on this road will always be to help ordinary people make it through another day."
Rochelle's gifts and vocal prowess are brilliantly apparent on her first national release, Changing Places, which released April 4, 2006 on Vision Entertainment Media Group and is distributed through Pyramid/Fontana, a division of Universal Music Group. "June Rochelle is a soulful songstress that reminds me of the great Anita Baker," comments Allen Jacobi, President of Pyramid Records. The project beautifully blends urban, adult contemporary and gospel musical styles. "At the center of the album is the message to maintain an uplifting outlook on the road of life," says Rochelle. "Love in its many shades is the theme - from unconditional and universal love to the roller coaster of romance. My goal is to reach everyone that can relate."
Vision Entertainment Media Group brings an array of gospel music to the world, offering a unique appeal and musical dimension to reach beyond the walls of the church and into the world with an inspired word, while maintaining the integrity and victory of the Gospel. |
