BeBe Winans join cast of The Color Purple |

Grammy Award winners Chaka Khan and BeBe Winans will take a turn on the New York stage next year in the long-running musical The Color Purple.
R&B singer Khan will join the cast Jan. 9, 2008, in the role of Sofia, a friend of the the main character Celie who teaches her to fight back against abuse.

Winans, a member of a family of gospel artists, will take on the role of Harpo, Sofia's husband.
The Color Purple, based on the Pulitzer-Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker, has run on Broadway since December 2005.
The lead role of Celie is currently being played by Fantasia, the stage name for Fantasia Monique Barrino, a soul and pop artist who won American Idol in its third season. |
