Washington, D.C. -- 2004 “American Idol” Top 5 contestant, George Huff, will sing a little a cappella and sign copies of his new Top Ten CD “Miracles” (Warner Bros.) on Friday, December 23, 2006 @ 1:00 p.m. at Potomac Adventist Bookstore located at 12004 Cherry Hill Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904. Phone: (301) 572-0700
Joining Huff for the signing will be his publicist, Bil Carpenter, who has authored the new book, "Uncloudy Days: The Gospel Music Encyclopedia" (Backbeat Books), which chronicles the lives of over 600 gospel singers dating back to 1900 – including George Huff. Carpenter will be signing copies of his book and his “Uncloudy Days” compilation CD that features Edwin Hawkins, Andre Crouch and Bryan Wilson’s hit single, “Still, My Father.”
Known as “Smiling George” during the “American Idol” competition, Huff was raised in New Orleans and has lived in Dallas since Hurricane Katrina displaced his family this past summer. Last year, he released a top-selling Christmas CD and his new inspiration CD features the hit single “Brighter Day” that was produced by Fred Jerkins of Darkchild Productions.
Carpenter, a Washington native, graduated from the American University and wrote for People magazine prior to becoming a publicist for gospel artists ranging from CeCe Winans to Bishop T.D. Jakes. |
