Nashville, TN - Indianapolis native June Rochelle is a singer/songwriter on a mission to soothe and uplift listeners with her soulful voice and message of hope. She has stood before tens of thousands of people to sing with Celine Dion (in French no less) and Diana Ross (who handed the microphone to June in the middle of her show and told her to "sing for the people"). June's demo vocal of the song "Lately" provided the foundation for Arista Records' soul-pop trio Divine to reach the top of the Billboard Top 100 Singles chart.
She even holds the distinction of singing the hook for rapper Lady J's infamous novelty hit single "Free Mike Tyson!" But her most profound performances have been in the humble service of people in need, in church pews or behind prison walls, encouraging soul-battered people to continue to strive forward.
June's gifts and vocal prowess are brilliantly apparent on her first national release, Changing Places, slated to release April 4 on Vision Entertainment Media Group and distributed through Pyramid/Fontana, a division of Universal Music Group. "June Rochelle is a soulful songstress that reminds me of the great Anita Baker," comments Allen Jacobi, President of Pyramid Records. The project beautifully blends urban, adult contemporary and gospel musical styles. "At the center of the album is the message to maintain an uplifting outlook on the road of life," June says. "Love in its many shades is the theme - from unconditional and universal love to the roller coaster of romance. My goal is to reach everyone that can relate."
In addition to her accomplishments in the recording studio, June Rochelle has performed in several stage works and is a member of the Voices of Faith Choir. She opened for Yolanda Adams on the "Today" tour and has performed before Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, among other luminaries. June has even hosted her local TV talk show, "Joy in Our Town" on WLCJ-TBN, spotlighting topics like kids with disabilities, elder abuse and other topics of interest to local viewers. "My purpose on this road will always be to help ordinary people make it through another day," says June.
Her work has already received high praise from the Los Angeles Times, Ebony Magazine, The Ron Seggie Show, Voice of America Radio and the TCT Network. Dale Murray, on-air personality for WXEZ in Virginia, says, "June Rochelle's new release is a soulful masterpiece that will keep her name in the face of gospel music enthusiasts for years to come." Tracey Artis, CEO for I Hear Music, Inc., says June Rochelle is "a must for all gospel lovers."
