GOSPO CENTRIC RECORDS ARTISTS NOMINATED FOR 2003 EXCELLENCE
AWARDS
Gospo Centric Artists Slated to Perform at GMWA Events
Nashville, TN Gospo Centric
Records recording artists Dorinda Clark-Cole, Byron Cage, Papa San and
Trin-i-tee 5:7 have received nominations for the 2003 Gospel Music Excellence
Awards, which will be held during the upcoming Gospel Music Workshop of America
(GMWA) Convention. The awards program will take place on Saturday, August 9 at
the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in Tampa, FL.
Clark-Cole, a member of the legendary gospel group The Clark Sisters and this
yearıs Stellar Award-winning Female Vocalist of the Year, is nominated for
Female Vocalist of the Year Traditional, Female Vocalist of the Year
Contemporary and New Artist of the Year Traditional.
Six-time Stellar Award nominee Byron Cage, known as the "Prince of Praise," has
received a nomination for Male Vocalist of the Year Contemporary. Cage will be
a featured performer on the Excellence Awards and also on the GMWA Monday Night
Youth Forum.
Reggae legend Papa San has received nominations for Male Vocalist of the Year
Urban Contemporary and Rap Artist of the Year, while Gold-selling Stellar Award
winner Trin-i-tee 5:7 is nominated for Group of the Year Contemporary.
Presenting on the Excellence Awards will be Grammy
Award-winning producer/recording artist Percy Bady, who will also perform on the
Monday Night Youth Forum and Wednesdayıs Nightly Musical, as well as Thursdayıs
Quartet Panel and Quartet Banquet. Bady and new Gospo Centric recording artist
The Soul Seekers will also honor gospel legend Albertina Walker during the
annual GMWA "Tribute to the King" concert on Wednesday, August 13.
Gospo Centric Records, along with Sister 2 Sister Magazine, will host an
invitation-only GMWA Beach Bar-B-Que on Wednesday, August 13 from 1 p.m. to 4
p.m. at the A La Carte Event Pavilion. The event will include performances by
Byron Cage, Percy Bady and others.
Gospo Centric & B-Rite Music, owned by Vicki Mack Lataillade and her husband
Claude, was founded by Ms. Mack Lataillade in 1993 with $6,000 she borrowed from
her fatherıs postal pension. Upcoming releases from Gospo Centric Records
include The Soul Seekers, American Idol "Wild Card" R.J. Helton, Grammy Award
winner Tramaine Hawkins, three-time Stellar Award nominee Natalie Wilson, and
Grammy, Dove and Stellar Award nominated soulful youth group New Direction.
