KEITH “WONDERBOY” JOHNSON JOINSTHE VERITY RECORDS FAMILYNew York, NY (July 22, 2003) – The country’s most prominent Gospel label Verity Records, recently announced the signing of Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson at their headquarters in New York. Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson, whose solo projects are now signed to Verity Records through a partnership with World Wide Gospel, is credited with ushering in a renewed interest in traditional Quartet music for the younger sect. He first exploded onto the music scene with the Spiritual Voices, in 1998, with the release of the critically acclaimed “Through The Storm,” on the World Wide Gospel label. “We are extremely excited and feel blessed to join with the entire Verity family in taking Keith's career to next level. But, we are most excited about the people's lives and souls that will be changed as we all work together to spread the message of God's love,” said Kerry & Fatiyah Douglas of World Wide Gospel. “We have to give special appreciation to Max, Tara, Jazzy, not just because of the support and encouragement they have extended to our record label and our publication, The Gospel Truth Magazine. Verity has always been the leader in taking the entire Gospel music industry to higher heights and has been a blessing to us all.” Known for incorporating top production skills, natural talent and high energy, Johnson never compromises the message or the heritage of Quartet music. By melding the traditional Gospel quartet sound with jazz, R&B, rock and country influences, Johnson has opened the door for the next generation of Quartet artists and is affectionately known as the “new sound” in Quartet music. “We are truly excited to have Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson join our family,” said Verity Records President & VP Zomba Music Group Max Siegel. “Keith has a captivating live performance and is truly an exciting artist to work with. We’ve been anxiously anticipating the chance to work with Kerry & Fatiyah Douglas and we’re excited about establishing a relationship with World Wide Gospel.” Established in 1994, Verity Records (part of the Zomba Group of Labels) is currently the largest Gospel label in the United States and has made a lasting impression to the recording industry and listening public, becoming the premiere source for quality recorded Gospel music. Home to several successful Gospel artists such as long time labelmates, Fred Hammond, John P. Kee, Hezekiah Walker, The Canton Spirituals, Ben Tankard and Richard Smallwood, Verity has also announced many important signings over the last few years, including mainstays Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp and Vickie Winans. The label also demonstrates its diversity by representing Gospel’s future with contemporary artists Deitrick Haddon, Tonex, Virtue and Debra Killings.
