GRAMMY NOMINATED PRODUCER
RELEASES SOLO ALBUM
Percy Bady Emerges With Exciting New Album
Nashville, TN Gospo Centric Records recording artist
Percy Bady is putting his award-winning production touch on his own
debut solo album, which is set to release on July 22. The multiple
Stellar and Dove Award winning, Grammy nominated Bady, who has long
been a powerful music industry force on the other side of the
microphone as a producer, arranger, musician and songwriter, steps
into the spotlight with The Percy Bady Experience.
"This is not so much me trying to start a career as an artist as it
is simply having something to say and my own way of saying it," say
Bady. "As a producer of another act you always have to find
consensus and agreement. In this case, itıs all on me a committee
of one!"
Bady, whose recent credits include the Ali movie soundtrack,
Donnie McClurkin Again and Wow Gospel 2003, Yolanda Adams,
BeBe & CeCe Winans, Marvin Sapp, Ray Bady, wrote all but three of the
songs on The Percy Bady Experience. Drawing from the gospel
quartets he listened to as a child and the urban R&B hits he has
produced, Bady has created an album that is both traditional and
contemporary.
"My whole concept was to make a classy album that was part
nostalgia and yet still very much today," explains Bady. "I come
from a more traditional background, but my exposure over the years
has been so broad that I wanted to make sure this album encompassed
everything that I like, as well as things that I knew would move
other people."
The Percy Bady Experience includes innovative songs such as "Um
Good," which features the soaring voice of Pastor Darryl Hines,
Apostle Donald Alford and Marvin Sapp; "You Oughta Been There," a hot
quartet song featuring The Soul Seekers; and the tender ballad "Gone
But Not 4Gotten." Another stand-out on the album is "Medley: Songs
That Brought Us Through," an arrangement of six of the most memorable
songs penned by Bady and previously recorded by artists such as Rev.
Milton Brunson & the Thompson Community Singers, BeBe & CeCe, Whitney
Houston and Howard Smith. Badyıs special guests on this project
include BeBe Winans, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Ted Winn (Ted & Sherie),
Papa San, Ray Bady, Dawkins & Dawkins, DJ Rogers, New Direction, The
Soul Seekers, Darius Brooks, Leanne Faine (Thompson Community Singers),
PAJAM (remix), Yvette Williams (Ms. Tonexı) and Big Jim Wright.
"I think people hear these songs and itıs a reminder of where they
were when they first heard this music, and where they are now,"
comments Bady. "Sometimes itıs hard to know where you are if you
donıt stop and remember where youıve come from."
Three songs, "Um Good," "Iıll Keep Holdinı On" and "Gone But Not
4Gotten," will be included as bonus accompaniment tracks on The
Percy Bady Experience. Using these tracks, Percy Bady fans will
soon have a chance to record their own vocals on the songs during an
upcoming contest sponsored by Gospo Centric Records. Contest details
will be announced at a later date.
